The one day conference took place in the Château de Betzdorf, November 23rd, 2016 and will be followed by an evening reception at La Table du Belvedere in Luxembourg City.

In this Panel Discussion opening the GovSatCom 2016 conference, the role of GovSat solutions, including their key applications and service management architectures, will be explored, with particular focus on the recent trend towards dual-use of GovSatCom and evolving operational requirements. Panelists will also debate technical and operational challenges, including European trends and challenges and GovSat security applications. The session will aim to define the requirements to enable future capabilities, as well as set out a technology roadmap for satellite and network evolution.
Keeping citizens safe and healthy is a key concern for governments and a challenge which is constantly evolving. In this panel, the national GovSatCom perspective on areas such as crisis management, humanitarian aid and surveillance of civil protection, key infrastructures and borders will be outlined. The evolution of big data will also be looked at in relation to secure data aggregation and dissemination, and high-performance computing systems.
This panel will address the needs and existing security solutions for defence and civilian applications. Panelists will discuss security from an end-to-end perspective including interference mitigation, unauthorized access to user traffic and avoidance of hijacking.
With missions often taking place in the air or over water, the need for reliable communications on-the-move is paramount. This panel will examine the ground solutions of the future, which have been designed to keep pace with a fast-changing, mobile world. Mission operations and network management will also be discussed, along with secure communications platforms and multi-band solutions for governments.
